What a day, what a day...

Today was one of the more interesting days I've had in awhile. I haven't really been able to get much work done for web development, but it's been decently hectic.

Firstly, my glasses finally came in. For a week and a half I've been living without them, creating extremely pain in the butt headaches now as I try to adjust to them.

Secondly, the lady has been here the past few days, keeping me out of arms reach of my computer. But always within an arms reach of her. (aww, that sounds cute?). Today we came to the realization that we've been dating for nearly 2 years now. Scary, eh?

Thirdly, Southeast Wisconsin has been hit pretty hard with rain, to the point where just about everywhere is flooding. Minnesota may be the land of 10,000 lakes but Wisconsin has a lot more waterways than MN. And with all of this rain, we're pretty much flooded all over the place. The news is constant talk of dams being near the point of failure, and in one case in the WI Dells area a dam/berm did burst, leaving the whole lake to rush downstream and take houses with it.

With all of the rain within the past week, comes also the bad weather. Today was the first time in 6 years that we had a tornado warning close enough to think about getting into the basement. Naturally, we wrangled the cats and got them in their cages in the basement and sat and watched the radar as it sidled to the north of us, but still it was pretty close. By my lady's home it's the point where in some cities the streets are flooded to the point where fire trucks can't make it through.

Wisconsin definitely needs the rain, as we've been running in a drought the past 5 years. But this much so quickly isn't the way we want the season to go, leaving many of us with wet feet and soaking basements.

At least it's not to the point where we all have cabin fever from staying indoors for so long.

But we're getting close.
